| dc.description.abstract | Στόχος της παρούσας εργασίας είναι η μελέτη της ιδιαίτερης σχέσης που αναπτύσσεται ανάμεσα στον άνθρωπο και το ζώο στον μυθιστορηματικό κόσμο του Λόγγου. Στο "Τὰ κατὰ Δάφνιν καὶ Χλόην", περισσότερο από οποιοδήποτε άλλο μυθιστόρημα, το ζώο βρίσκεται σε κυρίαρχη θέση. Παράλληλα η ζωολογική γνώση στον ελληνορωμαϊκό κόσμο παρουσίασε ιδιαίτερη ακμή και έτσι το μυθιστόρημα διαθέτει ένα πλούσιο υπόβαθρο για αυτό το θέμα. Για αυτόν τον λόγο παραθέτω στην αρχή της εργασίας μου μια σύντομη εισαγωγή η οποία παρουσιάζει τις πολιτισμικές διαστάσεις που το ζώο λαμβάνει στην ελληνορωμαϊκή αρχαιότητα. Στο μυθιστόρημα του Λόγγου το ζώο φαίνεται να ακολουθεί την πορεία των δύο ηρώων, και όταν αυτοί βρίσκονται σε ανάγκη γονικής φροντίδας, τα ζωά είναι αυτά που αναλαμβάνουν αυτόν τον ρόλο. Για αυτό και στο πρώτο κεφάλαιο εστιάζω στον τρόπο με τον οποίο τα ζώα ενεργούν ως γονείς για τους δύο πρωταγωνιστές. Και αργότερα όμως, όταν οι νέοι ερωτεύονται, τα ζώα εμπλέκονται άμεσα στην ανάπτυξη και εξέλιξη του ερωτικού συναισθήματος των δύο πρωταγωνιστών. Στο πλαίσιο αυτό το δεύτερο κεφάλαιο επικεντρώνεται στον τρόπο με τον οποίο τα ζώα συνδέονται με τον έρωτα των δύο νέων, είτε ως αντικείμενα μίμησης, είτε ως δρώντα πρόσωπα. Τα ζώα στο μυθιστόρημα έχουν τόσο κεντρικό ρόλο, ώστε ακόμα και οι αναφορές σε ζωικά προϊόντα, με την μελέτη των οποίων ολοκληρώνεται η εργασία μου, έχουν έναν ιδιαίτερο συμβολισμό. | |
| dc.description.translatedabstract | The aim of this thesis is to study the unique relationship that develops between man and animal in the fictional world of Longus. In "Daphnis and Chloe", more than in any other novel, the animal is in a leading position. At the same time, zoological knowledge in the Greco – Roman world flourished and thus the novel relies on a rich background on this subject. For this reason, I provide a brief introduction at the beginning of my thesis which presents the cultural dimensions that the animal takes on in Greco – Roman antiquity. In Longus’ novel, animals appear to follow the path of the two heroes, and when the latter are in need of parental care, the former take on this role. That is why in the first chapter I focus on the way in which animals serve as parents for the two protagonists. Later too, when the two young people fall in love, the animals are directly involved in the development and the evolution of their erotic emotion. In this context, chapter two focuses on the way in which animals are linked to the two young people's love affair, either as objects of imitation or as acting characters. Animals in the novel are so central that even the references to animal products, the study of which concludes my thesis, have a particular symbolism. | |
