| el |
| dc.description.translatedabstract | This thesis presents three implementations of Time to Digital Converters on Field Programmable Gate Arrays and discusses the issues faced with each one. Two of the three implemented TDCs are based on Tapped Delay Lines, the basis of Digital TDC Design. Experiments are performed utilizing resources coming from the evaluation board itself. The third implementation utilizes Ring Oscillators in order to perform the desired operation. Challenges that come from using a low cost, technologically outdated chip are also dealt with. The main purpose of this thesis is to gain familiarity not only in TDC implementations, but also in FPGA design. Based on that, we also discuss differences of TDC implementations between FPGA families, along with the basic characteristics of TDCs. | el |
