Having available the values of a complex potential on a closed contour surrounding a crack (derived either by an experimental or by a numerical method), we determine this potential inside the above contour (as well as the corresponding stress intensity factors) by using the classical theory of the Riemann–Hilbert boundary value problem together with the well-known Cauchy integral formula. The case of an array of periodic collinear cracks is considered in detail and the corresponding numerical results (based on the trapezoidal quadrature rule) are displayed.
