Abstract

This Master’s thesis focuses on the assessment of digital readiness of the University of Patras in terms of integration, adoption and usage of new technologies particularly from the teaching staff perspective. For this purpose, a questionnaire was prepared and distributed among the teaching staff of the above educational institution. The questionnaire was built electronically, using google forms and was distributed by electronic means and through e-mail using the list of teachers at the University of Patras found in the facility “TOVIMA”. It comprised six (6)questions related to demographic data and twenty-eight (28) questions on the subject of the research. The entire process was performed anonymously and theinformation collected will remain confidential. The questions were grouped into seven (7) sections, based on an initial judgement following the relevant literature but also to ease the respondents while answering a long list of questions. After reviewing the data using descriptive statistics, an exploratory factor analysis was applied to unravel the latent constructs that according to the teaching staff contribute to the assessment of the Institution’s digital readiness The analysis indicated the need for seven (7) constructs, however the groups within each construct were not the same as the initial arrangement. The statistical analysis was all performed in SPSS using different statistical tools in order to draw the conclusions of the research. The thesis is finalized with the presentation of the conclusions according to the findings and interpretation of the statistical analysis.
