The classical method for locating zeros (and/or poles) of analytic (and/or meromorphic) functions in the complex plane on the basis of appropriate complex contour integrals is shown to be applicable (after an appropriate modification) to the location of branch points of sectionally analytic functions. The classical trapezoidal quadrature rule is the standard rule used during the necessary numerical integrations. Numerical experiments illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method. Generalizations of the method are also suggested.
