Research haw shown that social anxiety generalizes to sporting and athletic situations. The first study explored the applicability of the Clark and Wells model of social anxiety to sport anxiety. Participants were students aged 11-13 years old. The other two preventions designed to help adolescents to reduce their anxiety and their negative way of thinking before a stressful event. The first study also examined if sport anxiety can be related with social anxiety and all the variables of Clark and Wells model (1995): negative performance attitudes, negative performance cognitions, anticipatory and post-event processing. The second study investigated if positive anticipatory thinking and distraction can reduce the social anxiety in a sample of pre-adolescents before a stressful sporting activity. Finally, the third study designed to repeat and explore the findings of Vassilopoulos et al. (2009,2016) through the evaluation of a modification programme of cognitive bias interpretation (CBM-1), which is designed especially for sport anxiety.el
