In this thesis, the problem of separating music signals in the short-time Fourier Transform domain is examined, where the only input data is the mixture signal, that is the signal that includes all the musical sources we are trying to separate. Source separation is one of the most difficult problems in digital signal processing, since in its most usual scenarios, the problem is considered underdetermined. In the case where the solution is approached through the short-time Fourier transform, the separation system consists of at least two different subsystems. At first, an estimation of the sources STFT magnitude is required. Afterward, the phase of the sources must be reconstructed, in order to obtain the estimated sources in the time domain. Finally, filtering the estimated sources with a Wiener filter is a usual post-processing step. In this thesis, we examine all of these subsystems, comparing the results of various algorithms and methods, both independently and in combination, concluding to a whole music signal separation system.el
