This Master's thesis represents the culmination of my research within the Graduate Program of the Department of Physics at the University of Patras. My study focused on the field of Photonics, specifically analyzing the optical and nonlinear optical properties of star-shaped molecules, as well as investigating their aggregation properties. In the first part of my research, I focused on the study of fourteen new tripodal systems with C3 symmetry. Using triphenylamine as the core, I examined how the peripheral integration of fluorine substituents can regulate intramolecular charge transfer of these materials. Particular emphasis was placed on measuring the two-photon absorption (2PA) cross-section, a property critical for applications in bioimaging and nonlinear photonic technologies. Subsequently, my study expanded to the photophysical behavior of an asymmetric chromophore, aiming to highlight how environmental polarity and the restriction of intramolecular motions affect luminescence through aggregation. By investigating phenomena such as Aggregation-Induced Emission (AIE), I attempted to analyze the strategic design of organic absorbers with tailored optical properties. This work combines the experimental measurements I conducted at the Laser Laboratory with theoretical DFT calculations, offering a comprehensive view of the photophysical mechanisms of the systems under study.
