Abstract
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a modern, non-invasive and harmless eye imaging technique, which assists ophthalmologists to diagnose and stage various eye conditions. It is important that this technology, as well as its findings and its clinical utility are understood by the user.
In this context, a digital educational application was developed, which includes the physical principles of operation of OCT, the diseases where OCT is applied, as well as multiple choice questions aimed at the user’s self evaluation. For the implementation of the application, Javascript and SQL programming languages were utilized, as well as a variety of different tools, such as Next.js, MDX, AriaDocs and Vercel, a cloud platform, which hosts the application and makes it user-friendly. Upon completion, the application was distributed to a small number of ophthalmology residents for a first pilot evaluation.
