Abstract
In this thesis, the H0 tension is examined within the framework of Horndeski’s theory of gravity. Specifically, two distinct datasets, Cosmic Chronometers and Pantheon+, are analyzed to evaluate whether Horndeski’s model can effectively address the Hubble tension. Following a brief introduction, the mathematical and cosmological background, along with the tensions inherent in the ΛCDM model, are thoroughly explained. In the third chapter, the Horndeski theory of gravity is explored in the context of scalar field modified gravity. The fourth chapter presents a statistical analysis, detailing the numerical methodologies employed to obtain the results. Finally, the findings of this thesis are discussed, accompanied by commentary on the figures generated during the analysis.
