| dc.description.abstract | Στοχος της παρούσας διπλωματικής εργασίας είναι η υλοποίηση χωρικής συμπίεσης βίντεο σύμφωνα με τις προδιαγραφές του H.264/AVC προτύπου. Αρχικά η χωρική συμπίεση υλοποιήθηκε σε περιβάλλον Matlab. Στη συνέχεια, λαμβάνοντας υπόψη πως οι προσωπικοί υπολογιστές μπορούν να βελτιώσουν την απόδοση της επεξεργασίας πολυμεσικών δεδομένων αν εκμεταλλεύτουμε τις δυνατότητες παράλληλης επεξεργασίας δεδομένων από τις πολυπύρηνες CPU, GPU που διαθέτουν, προσαρμόσαμε τον αλγόριθμο της χωρικής συμπίεσης σε openCL. Έπειτα δοκιμάσαμε τις δύο αυτές υλοποιήσεις συμπιέζοντας διάφορα πλαίσια βίντεο και παραθέσαμε τα πειραματικά αποτελέσματα που προέκυψαν καθώς και τους χρόνους επεξεργασίας τους στο τέλος της παρούσας διπλωματικής. | el |
| dc.description.translatedabstract | The aim of the present thesis is the implementation of spatial video compressing in the context of the H.264/AVC standard. At first the spatial compressing was implemented using the Matlab software environment. Later, taking into account that desktop PCs can provide a great opportunity to increase the performance of processing multimedia data by exploiting task and data parallelism with multicore CPU and many-core GPU, an attempt was made to convert the matlab code into openCL heterogeneous environment. Finally, experiments are run and the resulted compressed video frames in addition with measurements of the execution time are illustrated. | el |
