This thesis addresses the design and control of a robotic tracked vehicle for the purpose of pipeline inspection. Specifically, existing research upon this subject was studied and the most practical model was implemented based on the given resources. Afterwards, the mathematic and dynamic model of the system was defined while simulations and experiments were conducted in order to compare the theoretical and the practical behavior and performance of the system. These simulations show the system’s behavior under different conditions and its dependence upon alteration of certain factors. The theoretic tools used in this thesis associate with the field of robot dynamics and more specifically with the dynamics of holonomic and non holonomic systems as described by the Lagrangian approach of robot dynamics.el
