Abstract
Many surveys have shown that healthcare professionals lack of basic and specialized knowledge concerning radiation protection safety. This dearth of knowledge can result in misunderstandings and actions that could impact the healthcare services rendered. Education of physicians, radiographers, nurses and other allied health personnel involved in fluoroscopy are necessary and are basic aspect of the overall optimization process. The aim of this study was to construct a web-based educational tool to help healthcare professionals acquire essential knowledge about radiation protection safety in fluoroscopy.
A comprehensive and detailed analysis of literature was conducted to identify the most relevant research in the field of fluoroscopy. The development of this educational tool was made using HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
The application consists of 5 multiple-choice quizzes, each corresponding to one of the topics: basic aspects of physics, X-ray systems in fluoroscopy, dose quantities, radiobiology, radiation protection of patients and staff.
This educational tool is suitable for physicians, technologists, nurses and other allied health personnel involved in fluoroscopy. The application can serve as both an educational resource and an evaluation test for healthcare professionals. It was constructed to provide sufficient understanding of all the crucial matters regarding radiation protection, thereby leading to a generally improved RPS culture.
