The aim of this study was to examine the effects of eucalyptus essential oil (Eucalyptus globulus) against the plant-parasitic nematode Meloidogyne javanica in tomato crops, while also assessing chlorophyll and anthocyanin levels in the plants throughout the experiment. The experiment involved 20 healthy tomato plants of the Belladona F1 variety, which were transplanted and artificially inoculated with approximately 500 second-stage juveniles (J2) of M. javanica per plant. The essential oil was applied in three doses (7.5 μl, 15 μl, and 30 μl) using filter paper placed in the rhizosphere. Each treatment included five plants, along with a control group (nematodes only). The results showed that the highest dose (30 μl) had the strongest inhibitory effect on the nematode, significantly reducing gall formation and egg production. Additionally, plants treated with essential oil exhibited higher chlorophyll and anthocyanin levels per plant compared to control plants. Overall, the findings suggest that eucalyptus essential oil can serve as an effective tool for the biological management of M. javanica, offering a promising approach for sustainable crop protection.
