The analysis and handling of malware is a significant problem for security researchers. Often, they do not have access to the source code of the malware and, therefore, cannot fully understand its operation. Nevertheless, dealing with malware requires the application of reverse engineering. Reverse engineering is a process that requires the detailed analysis of an existing product, with the aim of understanding its operation. This approach is contrary to forward engineering, where a new product is developed, and requires systematic observation of the effects that the product has on its environment and the analysis of its behavior. In this specific case, an analysis of the havoc demon malware is conducted. Reverse engineering of the havoc demon malware is an important analysis method aimed at revealing its internal mechanism and operation. Through the application of analytical methods such as code analysis, recovery of stored information, and detection of encryption systems, the techniques used by the malware to cause damage to the affected systems and its activities can be understood. Based on this understanding, it is possible to develop detection and mitigation methods for the malware, such as upgrades in the field of security, application of patented detection techniques, and development of security objects. Reverse engineering is an invaluable tool in combating malicious software, as it allows for a deeper understanding of its operation, identification of potential vulnerabilities, and development of effective strategies for addressing and preventing threats.
