| dc.description.abstract | Η μελισσοκομία, μια παραδοσιακή και διαχρονική δραστηριότητα στην Ελλάδα, κατέχει ξεχωριστή θέση στον πρωτογενή τομέα παραγωγής της χώρας. Αν και συχνά η προσοχή εστιάζεται στην παραγωγή του διάσημου ελληνικού μελιού και άλλων προϊόντων της κυψέλης, η συμβολή της μελισσοκομίας εκτείνεται πολύ πέρα από την άμεση οικονομική της αξία. Αυτή η εργασία στοχεύει να αναδείξει τη σημαντική και πολυδιάστατη σημασία του κλάδου της μελισσοκομίας για τον πρωτογενή τομέα κυρίως στην Ελλάδα αλλά και στο εξωτερικό, εξετάζοντας τόσο την άμεση όσο και την έμμεση, αλλά εξαιρετικά κρίσιμη, συνεισφορά της. Στο επίκεντρο της έμμεσης συμβολής βρίσκεται ο αναντικατάστατος ρόλος των μελισσών ως επικονιαστών για ένα ευρύ φάσμα γεωργικών καλλιεργειών. Από τα οπωροφόρα δέντρα και τα λαχανικά μέχρι τους ξηρούς καρπούς, η δραστηριότητα των μελισσών είναι κρίσιμη για την αύξηση της παραγωγής, τη βελτίωση της ποιότητας των καρπών και τη διασφάλιση της επισιτιστικής επάρκειας. Η οικονομική αξία αυτής της οικολογικής υπηρεσίας συχνά παραβλέπεται σε σχέση με την εμπορική αξία των μελισσοκομικών προϊόντων, ωστόσο, αποτελεί θεμελιώδη βάση για τη βιωσιμότητα πολλών γεωργικών δραστηριοτήτων. | |
| dc.description.translatedabstract | Beekeeping, a traditional and timeless activity in Greece, holds a special place in the country's primary production sector. Although attention is often focused on the production of the famous Greek honey and other hive products, the contribution of beekeeping extends far beyond its direct economic value. This paper aims to highlight the significant and multidimensional importance of the beekeeping sector for the primary sector, mainly in Greece but also abroad, by examining both its direct and indirect, but extremely critical, contribution. At the heart of the indirect contribution is the indispensable role of bees as pollinators for a wide range of agricultural crops. From fruit trees and vegetables to nuts, bee activity is critical to increasing production, improving fruit quality and ensuring food sufficiency. The economic value of this ecological service is often overlooked in relation to the commercial value of bee products, yet it is a fundamental basis for the sustainability of many agricultural activities. | |
