dc.description.abstractThis thesis refers to the effect of oil price fluctuations on the economy with an emphasis on its different sectors. Emphasis is placed on the macroeconomic level, therefore, reference is made to supply and demand, inflation, GDP levels and employment. The research includes a literature review, and empirical results from Greek data. In this context, an initial theoretical analysis of the main themes of the paper was made and then the key terms of the study inflation as a phenomenon and the oil production industry were analysed. The study methodology was then explained, and the data analysis was presented. The 26 articles that were the focus of the study were then analysed and through their analysis it emerged that, basically, fluctuations in oil prices are positively associated with the increase in inflation and interest rates and negatively with demand and economic growth. However, the research also showed that fluctuations in oil prices do not always cause crises, nor are they the essential cause of them. Rather, it is the structural, systemic and economic problems that make a particular state vulnerable to crises. Thus, the causes and consequences of oil price fluctuations can be common and their limits difficult to identify, creating a vicious circle. One solution for Greece and nations around the world is to reduce dependence on crude oil and invest in renewable energy sources.
dc.description.translatedabstractΗ παρούσα διατριβή αναφέρεται στην επίδραση των διακυμάνσεων της τιμής του πετρελαίου στην οικονομία με έμφαση της διάφορους κλάδους της. Δίνεται έμφαση στο μακροοικονομικό επίπεδο, επομένως, γίνεται αναφορά στην προσφορά και ζήτηση, τον πληθωρισμό, τα επίπεδα ΑΕΠ και την απασχόληση. Η έρευνα περιλαμβάνει βιβλιογραφική ανασκόπηση, και εμπειρικά αποτελέσματα από ελληνικά δεδομένα. Στο πλαίσιο αυτό, έγινε μια αρχική θεωρητική ανάλυση των βασικών θεμάτων της εργασίας και στη συνέχεια αναλύθηκαν οι βασικοί όροι της μελέτης του πληθωρισμού ως φαινόμενο και της βιομηχανίας παραγωγής πετρελαίου. Στη συνέχεια επεξηγήθηκε η μεθοδολογία της μελέτης και παρουσιάστηκε η ανάλυση των δεδομένων. Στη συνέχεια αναλύθηκαν τα 26 άρθρα που αποτέλεσαν το επίκεντρο της μελέτης και μέσα από την ανάλυσή της προέκυψε ότι, κατά βάση, οι διακυμάνσεις της τιμές του πετρελαίου συνδέονται θετικά με την αύξηση του πληθωρισμού και των επιτοκίων και αρνητικά με τη ζήτηση και την οικονομική ανάπτυξη. Ωστόσο, η έρευνα έδειξε της ότι οι διακυμάνσεις της τιμές του πετρελαίου δεν προκαλούν πάντα κρίσεις, ούτε αποτελούν την ουσιαστική αιτία της. Μάλλον, είναι τα διαρθρωτικά, συστημικά και οικονομικά προβλήματα που καθιστούν ένα συγκεκριμένο κράτος ευάλωτο της κρίσεις. Έτσι, οι αιτίες και οι συνέπειες των διακυμάνσεων της τιμής του πετρελαίου μπορεί να είναι κοινές και τα όριά της δύσκολο να εντοπιστούν, δημιουργώντας έναν φαύλο κύκλο. Μια λύση για την Ελλάδα και τα έθνη σε όλο τον κόσμο είναι η μείωση της εξάρτησης από το αργό πετρέλαιο και η επένδυση σε ανανεώσιμες πηγές ενέργειας.
