This thesis explores the multifaceted impact of digital transformation on business efficiency and societal evolution, with a focus on technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and Big Data analytics. It delves into Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) as a foundational model facilitating operational optimization and seamless interoperability between systems. Moreover, the research evaluates the principles of Industry 4.0, highlighting the convergence of physical, digital, and biological systems and their implications for business models, cybersecurity, and innovation. Through a comprehensive analysis of data privacy concerns and the need for robust infrastructure, they are also examined to provide a balanced perspective. By addressing these challenges, organizations can better navigate the complexities of digital transformation and leverage the potential of emerging technologies for sustainable growth. The study identifies economic, operational, and societal benefits derived from digital integration. Challenges, including cybersecurity risks, digital skill gaps, and resource limitations, are also critically assessed. Finally, the dissertation examines Greece’s trajectory in digital transformation compared to European benchmarks, shedding light on legislative frameworks, public policy, and future opportunities for digital governance. The findings underline the strategic imperative of adopting advanced digital infrastructures and fostering an adaptable organizational culture to ensure sustainable growth and competitive advantage in an increasingly interconnected global economy.
