Abstract
Using micro data from the Greek Survey on Statistics of Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC), this dissertation attempt to identify the constraints households during the period 2007-2022, emphasizing on the effects of several factors on the probability of default on mortgage or rent repayments. The study not only acknowledges the importance of default risk but also recognizes the broader spectrum of financial challenges that households might encounter, particularly in the realm of housing expenses. Based on the results of the econometric estimates
and considering various demographic characteristics, household characteristics as well as regional effects, it has been found that lower default levels are observed for high-income households. As a consequence, this study had certain value for the prevention and control of constraint households.
