| dc.description.translatedabstract | In the context of the present work, the tribological behavior of compression rings in internal combustion engines and the operation of hybrid vehicles are examined, with focus on two types of hybrids, mild hybrids (Mild HEV) and full hybrids (Full HEV). Initially, the tribological behavior of the ring–cylinder system is examined. For the extraction of the results, the computational program Ansys Fluent was used, through which the ring–cylinder simulation was carried out with the appropriate data and initial boundary conditions each time. Thus, the results of pressure and friction were recorded for each crankshaft angle, and the appropriate conclusions were obtained for each case. Additionally, the study is extended to hybrid vehicles, which is carried out in the Simulink environment. The model used for the analysis is the HEV P2 Reference Application, where the main role was the comparison between the hybrid types of Mild Hybrid and Full Hybrid. The results showed that the Full Hybrid presents a greater possibility of electric assistance and better energy management compared to the Mild Hybrid. The thesis concludes that, for the overall improvement of the performance of modern systems, a reduction of mechanical and electrical losses and better energy management in the hybrid subsystems are required. | |
