This diploma thesis designs, implements, and evaluates an automated static analysis system for Android applications, aiming at the reliable detection of malicious software. The motivation stems from the continuous growth in the volume and complexity of malicious applications, which render manual examination of every suspicious sample practically infeasible and highlight the need for automated, multi-layered analysis. The proposed system integrates five established reverse engineering tools into a single workflow, examining both the Java code and the native code of the application, where malicious functionality is often concealed. Detection is based on a set of rules developed from scratch and documented according to international security standards, while the individual findings are combined by a heuristic mechanism that assigns each application an interpretable risk score. The system was experimentally evaluated on a set of real-world applications, both malicious and benign, achieving complete detection of all malicious samples, while a detailed case study demonstrates in practice how the automated analysis guides the analyst toward the actual malicious code. The results confirm that this approach offers reliable detection with full transparency and documentation of every decision, while also highlighting the inherent limitations of static analysis.
