Abstract
The aim of this thesis is to explore the relationship between income inequality and financial markets. In particular, data for 26 EU countries excluding Croatia over the period 2004-2020 were used. The data were analysed using four regression models (Pooled ols, random effects, fixed effects and GMM) in order to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the results ( Robust). The variables used to determine income inequality were the coefficient GINI, income top 10 and income bottom 50. The coefficients that formed the control variables were GDP growth per capita, inflation and unemployment while the stock market index of each country was used for the performance of financial markets. The data were sorted according to the panel data standards. The results of the analysis concluded that the stock index has no significant effect on the variations in income inequality. The results of the analysis can be used to make decisions and support policy decisions that will lead to improvements in the economic situation and well-being of society.
