This paper seeks to look at the relief decoration of two of the most important theatres of Asia Minor: the theatres of Hierapolis and Nysa. Their figured reliefs show anything but coincidental similarities. Through the reconstruction of their decoration we will understand the effort of the manufacturers to connect the iconographic program with the mythical - historical background of each region, in order to emphasize the prestige of each city over the others. Moreover, we will see how the relief decoration of the two theatres used as a means of promoting imperial ideology and propaganda, which aimed to create a common sense of unity among the inhabitants of the vast Roman Empire.el
