| dc.description.abstract | Η παρούσα πτυχιακή εργασία αποσκοπεί στην εξέταση και μελέτη του Metaverse και των επιμέρους εφαρμογών του, στο πλαίσιο των έξυπνων πόλεων. Στόχος της είναι η μελέτη και ανάλυση των τεχνολογιών που το υποστηρίζουν. Επιπροσθέτως, στόχος της είναι η μελέτη και ανάλυση των προοπτικών της ενσωμάτωσής του και των επερχόμενων προκλήσεων που αυτή συνεπάγεται. Ο σκοπός της παρούσας πτυχιακής εργασίας καλύπτεται μέσω αφηγηματικής ανασκόπησης της βιβλιογραφίας. Εξ αυτής, προέκυψε ότι το Metaverse δύναται να διαδραματίσει σημαντικό ρόλο στην ενίσχυση της καινοτομίας, στην περίπτωση των έξυπνων πόλεων. Επιπροσθέτως, διαπιστώθηκε ότι η ενσωμάτωση του Metaverse στις έξυπνες πόλεις έχει την προοπτική, αφενός να ενισχύσει και αφετέρου να βελτιώσει επιμέρους τομείς. Χαρακτηριστικά παραδείγματα είναι η εκπαίδευση, η υγεία, ο τουρισμός, αλλά και ο τομέας της διακυβέρνησης. Επίσης, μέσω των εμβυθιστικών εμπειριών και της αξιοποίησης των εικονικών υποδομών διαπιστώθηκε ότι υπάρχει η προοπτική ενίσχυσης της κοινωνικής συμμετοχής. Ωστόσο, η υιοθέτησή του συνοδεύεται από σημαντικά τεχνικά, κοινωνικά και ηθικά ζητήματα. Μεταξύ αυτών είναι η ανάγκη για υψηλές υπολογιστικές υποδομές, η προστασία των προσωπικών δεδομένων και η διασφάλιση της κοινωνικής ισότητας στην ισότιμη πρόσβαση του συνόλου των πολιτών. Εν κατακλείδι, συμπεραίνεται ότι η αξιοποίηση του Metaverse στις έξυπνες πόλεις είναι δυνατόν να προσφέρει ουσιαστικά οφέλη, μόνο υπό την προϋπόθεση του συνδυασμού της με υπεύθυνες πολιτικές και ισχυρά θεσμικά πλαίσια. Επομένως, είναι αναγκαίος ο σχεδιασμός συγκεκριμένων στρατηγικών, που θα εξασφαλίζουν τη βιωσιμότητα και την εμπιστοσύνη των πολιτών προς τους θεσμούς. | |
| dc.description.translatedabstract | This dissertation aims to examine and study the Metaverse and its individual applications, in the context of the smart cities. Its aim is to study and analyze the technologies, that support it. In addition, its aim is to study and analyze the prospects of Metaverse’s integration and the upcoming challenges that it entails. The purpose of this dissertation is covered through a narrative review of the literature. After all, it emerged that the Metaverse might play an important role in increasing innovation, in the case of the smart cities. In addition, it was found that the Metaverse’s integration in smart cities has the prospect of, on the one hand, strengthening and on the other hand, improving individual sectors. Some characteristic examples are education, health, tourism, but also the sector of governance. Even more, through immersive experiences and the use of virtual infrastructures, it was concluded that there is a prospect of increasing social participation, as well. However, Metaverse’s adoption is accompanied by significant technical, social and ethical issues. Among these, are the need for high-end computing infrastructures, the protection of personal data and the assurance of social equality in equal access for all citizens. Finally, it is concluded that the use of the Metaverse in smart cities may offer substantial benefits, only under the condition of its combination with responsible policies and strong institutional frameworks. Therefore, it is necessary to design specific strategies, which are going to ensure the sustainability and trust of citizens in institutions. | |
