This thesis investigates the feasibility of predicting music popularity using solely audio features extracted from the raw audio signal of musical tracks. The study is based on the Track Popularity Dataset (TPD), which integrates popularity indicators from multiple platforms (Billboard, Spotify, Last.fm) with high-dimensional audio feature representations. A complete cloud-based data engineering and machine learning pipeline was developed using Apache Spark and DataStax Astra DB, covering data cleaning, integration, feature transformation, and supervised learning preparation. Multiple regression models were trained and evaluated, with Random Forest combined with feature selection yielding the best performance. The experimental results indicate that audio features encode a measurable, though inherently limited, predictive signal regarding music popularity.
