dc.description.abstract	Η παρούσα εργασία επιχειρεί μια ιστορική αναδρομή στην εξέλιξη της φυτοπροστασίας, με έμφαση στις σημαντικότερες τεχνολογικές, θεσμικές και κοινωνικές μεταβολές που έλαβαν χώρα από τον 20ό αιώνα έως σήμερα. Εξετάζεται η μετάβαση από την παραδοσιακή και χημικά ελεγχόμενη φυτοπροστασία στη σύγχρονη ολοκληρωμένη, βιολογική και ψηφιακά υποστηριζόμενη διαχείριση των εχθρών και ασθενειών των καλλιεργειών. Η εργασία δομείται σε εφτά κεφάλαια, τα οποία αναλύουν τη διαδρομή της φυτοπροστασίας από την εμφάνιση της φυτοπαθολογίας και των πρώτων παρεμβάσεων, έως τη χημική επανάσταση, την ανάπτυξη της Ολοκληρωμένης Διαχείρισης Παρασίτων (IPM), την είσοδο της βιοτεχνολογίας και τις σύγχρονες τεχνολογικές και πολιτικές εξελίξεις. Η μεθοδολογική προσέγγιση είναι βιβλιογραφική, βασισμένη σε διεθνή επιστημονικά άρθρα, κανονιστικά κείμενα και ιστορικές πηγές. Τα κύρια συμπεράσματα αναδεικνύουν ότι η φυτοπροστασία δεν αποτελεί μόνο τεχνικό ή γεωπονικό πεδίο, αλλά επηρεάζεται από παράγοντες όπως η πολιτική οικονομία, η καταναλωτική ζήτηση και οι περιβαλλοντικοί περιορισμοί. Η εξέλιξή της είναι στενά συνυφασμένη με την κοινωνική αντίληψη περί κινδύνου, τη βιοποικιλότητα και τη βιωσιμότητα των αγροοικοσυστημάτων. Το μέλλον της φυτοπροστασίας απαιτεί σύνθεση επιστημονικής γνώσης, τεχνολογικής καινοτομίας και θεσμικής ισορροπίας.
dc.description.translatedabstract	This present project attempts a historical review of the evolution of crop protection, with emphasis on the most important technological, institutional and social transformations that occurred from the 20th century to the present day. It examines the transition from traditional and chemically-driven plant protection to modern integrated, biological and digitally supported management of crop pests and diseases. The structure of the study includes seven chapters analyzing the trajectory of crop protection from the emergence of plant pathology and early interventions to the chemical revolution, the development of Integrated Pest Management (IPM), the introduction of biotechnology, and the latest technological and political developments. The methodology is based on an extensive literature review of international scientific articles, normative texts, and historical sources. The main findings highlight that crop protection is not only a technical or agronomic field, but is influenced by factors such as political economy, consumer demand, and environmental constraints. Its development is closely linked to evolving societal perceptions of risk, biodiversity and the sustainability of agroecosystems. The future crop protection depends on a synthesis of scientific knowledge, technological innovation and institutional balance.
