Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to explore the changing dynamics of mobile technology, particularly in the context of 5G networks monitoring framework. As network connectivity becomes a part of our daily lives, the need for more advanced mobile technology has grown, resulting in the creation and deployment of 5G networks. This next generation wireless technology promises to transform industries by offering high multi-Gbps peak data speeds, ultra-low latency, massive device connectivity, increased network capacity, availability, energy efficiency, and reliability. This thesis aims to contribute to this technological landscape by introducing a new monitoring framework. This monitoring framework uses Docker for containerization, enabling the deployment of monitoring tools like ping, speedtest, and iperf3 tools within containers. The collected data, which includes latency, speed, bandwidth, and connectivity metrics, is visualized through Prometheus and Grafana, providing an overview of network performance. The monitoring framework also incorporates FastAPI framework, which enables network operators to select values and parameters that is used by the various monitoring tools of the framework (parametrization of the measurements). With the use of the monitoring framework crucial metrics within the 5G network, especially focusing on the segment from the core to the gNodeB, can be observed enhancing the availability and the capacity of the services provided. The intended users of this application are monitoring analyst of the Network Operations Center (NoC) tasked with the management and optimization of the 5G network's performance, making sure that it satisfies the expected standards and provides high-quality services.
