| dc.description.abstract | Η παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία εξετάζει την τεχνολογία blockchain και τα κρυπτονομίσματα, δύο από τις πιο σημαντικές καινοτομίες στον τομέα των ψηφιακών συναλλαγών και των αποκεντρωμένων συστημάτων. Αρχικά, αναλύεται η λειτουργία του blockchain, το οποίο αποτελεί ένα αποκεντρωμένο, αμετάβλητο και ασφαλές σύστημα καταγραφής δεδομένων, το οποίο επιτρέπει συναλλαγές χωρίς την ανάγκη για κεντρικούς μεσάζοντες. Στη συνέχεια, παρουσιάζονται οι βασικές αρχές των κρυπτονομισμάτων, οι διαφορετικοί αλγόριθμοι συναίνεσης, όπως το Proof of Work (PoW), το Proof of Stake (PoS) και το Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS), καθώς και η σημασία των Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT) μοντέλων για την εξασφάλιση της αξιοπιστίας των δικτύων. Επιπλέον, η εργασία εξετάζει τη χρήση των κρυπτονομισμάτων ως μέσο συναλλαγών, επένδυσης και αποθήκευσης αξίας, καθώς και τη σημασία των έξυπνων συμβολαίων (smart contracts) και των αποκεντρωμένων χρηματοοικονομικών εφαρμογών (DeFi). Παρουσιάζονται επίσης οι διαφορετικοί τύποι crypto wallets, όπως τα hardware και software wallets, και η σημασία της ασφαλούς διαχείρισής τους. Τέλος, η εργασία αξιολογεί τις προκλήσεις που αντιμετωπίζουν τα κρυπτονομίσματα, όπως η μεταβλητότητα της αγοράς, τα ρυθμιστικά ζητήματα και οι κίνδυνοι ασφαλείας. Παρά τις δυσκολίες, το blockchain και τα κρυπτονομίσματα συνεχίζουν να εξελίσσονται, διαμορφώνοντας νέες δυνατότητες για την παγκόσμια οικονομία. Η μελέτη καταλήγει στο συμπέρασμα ότι η τεχνολογία αυτή διαθέτει τη δυναμική να αλλάξει ριζικά τον τρόπο με τον οποίο πραγματοποιούνται οι συναλλαγές και οι επενδύσεις στο μέλλον. | |
| dc.description.translatedabstract | This thesis examines blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies, two of the most important innovations in the field of digital transactions and decentralized systems. First, we analyze the function of the blockchain, which is a decentralized, immutable and secure data recording system that enables transactions without the need for centralized intermediaries. Then, the basic principles of cryptocurrencies, different consensus algorithms such as Proof of Work (PoW), Proof of Stake (PoS) and Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS), and the importance of Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT) models for ensuring the reliability of networks are presented. In addition, the thesis discusses the use of cryptocurrencies as a means of trading, investing and storing value, as well as the importance of smart contracts and decentralized financial applications (DeFi). The different types of crypto wallets, such as hardware and software wallets, and the importance of their secure management are also presented. Finally, the paper evaluates the challenges facing cryptocurrencies, such as market volatility, regulatory issues and security risks. Despite the difficulties, blockchain and cryptocurrencies continue to evolve, shaping new opportunities for the global economy. The thesis concludes that this technology has the potential to radically change the way transactions and investments are made in the future. | |
