| dc.description.abstract | Η ευρύτερη θαλάσσια περιοχή της Γυάρου μελετήθηκε εκτεταμένα με την χρήση οργάνων γεωφυσικής διασκόπησης (τομογράφος υποδομής πυθμένα, ηχοβολιστής πλευρικής σάρωσης και μονοδεσμικός ηχοβολιστής ανάλυσης υδάτινων ενδιαιτημάτων) καθώς και μεθόδων επόπτευσης και δειγματοληψίας του πυθμένα, με σκοπό τον εντοπισμό και την ταυτοποίηση τύπων οικοτόπων προτεραιότητας, με έμφαση στα λιβάδια Posidonia oceanica και τους σχηματισμούς απασβεστωμένων ροδοφυκών (τραγάνα). Διαπιστώθηκε η εκτεταμένη ανάπτυξη των προαναφερθέντων τύπων που καλύπτουν περισσότερο από το 50% του πυθμένα μέχρι βάθους 40 μέτρα για το πρώτο και 150 μέτρα για το δεύτερο. Και τα δύο αυτά οικοσυστήματα δεν φαίνεται να έχουν υποβαθμιστεί από ανθρώπινες δραστηριότητες και παρουσιάζουν μεγάλο εύρος εξάπλωσης και ποικιλομορφία. | el |
| dc.description.translatedabstract | The marine area around Gyaros Isl. was extensively studied using geoacoustical systems (sub bottom profiler, side-scan sonar, single beam echosounder) and underwater imaging and sediment sampling methods, towards mapping priority habitat types, emphasizing on Posidonia oceanica and calcareous red algae (coralligenous) formations. The seabed around Gyaros Isl. was found to be of significant diversity, with P.oceanica and coralligenous formations covering more than 50% of the seafloor up to 40 meters and 150 meters depth respectively. Both of these two protected habitat types show no sign of degradation due to human activities. | el |
