| dc.description.translatedabstract | Integrating computational or algorithmic ideas into an introductory physics course aims to enhance students' understanding of physics and prepare them for future careers in a variety of fields. Computational thinking (CT) is critical as it is an integral part of physics and helps develop skills that are useful for solving non-trivial problems such as code generation and simulation of physical systems. In addition, the process of debugging programs and understanding the intuition behind physical theories offers an opportunity for signification, which enhances learning. Computational thinking provides an alternative representation of physics, helping students see physical phenomena through iterative relationships in code, beyond mathematics or diagrams. The present study aims to measure the improvement of the computational thinking (ACM test - Association for Computing Machinery as it has already been used in the literature) of high school students(Grade 9) during the application of quasi-experimental (semi-experimental) research based on Scratch and specifically on the material of chapter 2 for the creation of a simulation of motion and collision of two bodies in Cartesian plane. This research aims to study: ⚫ What is the change in students' computational thinking skill levels (comparing Pre test and Post test) after implementing the Scratch-based activities ? ⚫ Are there significant relationships between their CT test scores and their scores in decomposition, abstraction, simulation and evaluation levels (as assessed by Worksheets)? | |
